The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced In-House Lawyer to join our Legal team and support the organisation with high-quality, practical and solutions-focused legal advice. Reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel, this role plays a key part in managing legal risk, supporting compliance, and enabling sound strategic decision-making across the business.

This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for a lawyer who enjoys working closely with stakeholders, managing a diverse legal portfolio and contributing to a values-driven organisation within the healthcare sector.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, accurate and commercially practical legal advice to internal stakeholders
  • Independently manage a portfolio of legal matters across contracts, compliance, disputes and advisory work
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of legal documents including contracts, correspondence, briefs and advisory papers
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to identify risks and recommend solutions
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to healthcare and aged care
  • Support organisational governance, policy development and compliance frameworks
  • Manage and liaise with external legal providers under the direction of the Chief Legal Officer
  • Prepare and contribute to legal reporting and case tracking
  • Foster strong working relationships across the organisation and deliver exceptional internal customer service

 

About You

You are a professional, proactive and commercially minded lawyer who brings strong judgement, attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You are comfortable working autonomously while collaborating effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.

 

You will bring:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a legal environment (in-house or private practice)
  • Strong legal research, drafting and analytical capability
  • Sound knowledge of legal frameworks and regulatory environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal practice management systems
  • A client-service mindset and commitment to continuous improvement

Experience in healthcare, aged care or a regulated industry will be highly regarded.

  • Relevant Qualifications
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Valid Police Check
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Up-to-date COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations
  • 2026 Influenza vaccination
  • NDIS Clearance Check (including police clearance)
  • Working With Children’s Check
