Are you passionate about creating quality food and delivering outstanding customer experiences? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Cook to join our team at The Village Café & Bar.

 

As a valued member of our café team, you’ll prepare and present delicious meals, maintain high food safety standards, and contribute to a welcoming dining experience for our customers and community.

 

About the Role

As a Casual Cook, you will:

• Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard
• Ensure attractive food presentation and portion control
• Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen environment
• Monitor stock levels and communicate ordering requirements
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements
• Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality
• Support café operations, opening and closing duties, and team collaboration
• Assist with customer enquiries and special dietary requests professionally

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Cook, ideally within a café, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment
• Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety practices
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• A positive, hands-on attitude and willingness to support the team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A commitment to quality, professionalism, and customer service
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends

 

Qualifications / Experience Required                                                                                             

• Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a café or similar setting
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety regulations
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• A proactive and team- orientated mindset, always ready to help where needed
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
• HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices 
• HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid 
• Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (RSA)

 

Things that matter to us

• Cert III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) (desired)
• Previous experience in a kitchen (cafés, restaurants, pubs, or catering)
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene practices and kitchen safety standards
• Working with Children Check
• NDIS check (includes Police Check)
• Eligibility to work in Australia
• Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations (3 doses)
• 2026 Influenza vaccination
