This qualification reflects the role of personal trainers who develop, instruct and evaluate personalised exercise programs for generally healthy and low risk clients, to achieve specific fitness goals. Personal trainers work independently using highly developed fitness skills and knowledge in both routine and unpredictable situations. They use well-developed communication and collaboration skills to interact with clients and health professionals to improve client fitness outcomes.
The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice.

Assessment
To demonstrate competency, you’ll complete various assessment tasks for each enrolled unit, integrating knowledge with practical application. Satisfactory results in each task are essential for unit competency.
Assessments include observations, case studies, projects, and more, covering theory and practice.
Entry Requirements
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold the following units of competency or units that have been superseded by these units:
- HLTAID011 – Provide first aid (or a unit that supersedes this unit)
- HLTWHS001 – Participate in workplace health and safety
- ISFFIT032 – Complete pre-exercise screening and service orientation
- SISFFIT033 – Complete client fitness assessments
- SISFFIT035 – Plan group exercise sessions
- SISFFIT036 – Instruct group exercise sessions
- SISFFIT040 – Develop and instruct gym-based exercise programs for individual clients
- SISFFIT047 – Use anatomy and physiology knowledge to support safe and effective exercise
- SISFFIT052 – Provide healthy eating information
Course Requirements
Overview
- Students must be at least 18 years old when the course starts
- Completion of our pre-course testing for language, literacy, and numeracy is mandatory
- Students must provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
- Students must have basic digital literacy skills and access to a computer or smart device
- Students must be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, or Australian Permanent Resident
Pre-course Testing
Completion of the Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) assessment is mandatory to determine your current level and eligibility for enrolment. If you fall below the required ACSF level, you may receive additional LLN support through the TLC Learning Academy program or a third-party provider to enhance your literacy and numeracy skills to meet the necessary level.
Unique Student Identifier Number
Upon registration for the course, you must provide evidence of enrolment and appropriate identification. You are also required to obtain a Unique Student Identification (USI) number, which can be used for all studies in Australia. Applying for a USI is mandatory and can be done online here.
TLC Learning Academy may offer assistance with obtaining your USI.
Fees
The fee for this course is $2,300 for the full 10 month duration.
An initial payment of $300 is required upfront and then $200 per month, for 10 months.
