Upon completion, this qualification will be valid for three years.
The course includes vocational education training requirements and non-accredited training requirements in line with the aquatic industry. This is the industry standard for Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety.
You'll master essential skills such as:
- Explaining learning activities and providing instruction to swim students
- Identifying persons at risk of in distress in aquatic settings
- Determining appropriate water rescue methods
- Tailoring swim lessons to students needs
- Evaluating the successfulness of swim lessons
- Responding to student questions
Course Requirements
- No academic prerequisites required
- Students must be at least 18 years old when the course starts
- Students must provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
- Students must be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, or Australian Permanent Resident
- Students must be available to attend a 2-day training session

Upon registration for the course, you must provide evidence of appropriate identification. You are required to obtain a Unique Student Identification (USI) number, which can be used for all studies in Australia. Applying for a USI is mandatory and can be done online here.
